Our History
From the very beginning, Davis Decorative Hardware, formerly Davis Sales
Company, was a father-son business. In 1982 John F. “Jack” Davis Jr was an
engineer and had been selling abrasives and adhesives, and Bert was recently out
of Millsaps College with a business degree. They started out selling sandpaper to
cabinet makers in the Baton Rouge area but saw the need for additional
functional products, such as drawer slides and screws. As the business expanded
into southeast Mississippi and New Orleans, they saw a need for quality
decorative hardware that could be sold directly to homeowners along with
residential and commercial home builders, particularly custom home builders.
Selling to custom home builders allows builders to send their clients to one of the
showrooms in Baton Rouge and New Orleans to select the perfect items for their
custom-built homes. Bert has three sons, Ross, Jackson, and Walker. Ross
recently began working in the business too. He loves sales and interacting with
customers in general.
Jack passed away in 2016 but he considered the success of
Davis Sales Company to be proudest professional achievement. However, his
family and others who were close to him cherish his kindness, and especially his
sense of humor, just as much.
